The Whispers Member Nick Caldwell Dies At 71

Nick Caldwell, one of the founding members of US soul outfit The Whispers, has sadly passed away at the age of 71. 

According to ABC News, a representative of the group confirmed Caldwell died from congestive heart failure at his home in San Francisco. 

Formed in 1963, The Whispers original line-up featured Caldwell. Wallace and Walter Scott, Gordy Harmon and Marcus Hutson.

In 1970 the band scored their first top ten hit in Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong.

They enjoyed huge success with their 1980 album The Whispers which was the first to go platinum as well as peaking at #1 on the US Billboard Top Soul Albums chart, and it included hit songs such as And The Beat Goes On and Can You Do The Boogie.
