The Weeknd’s highly anticipated return to Australia has officially been cancelled.
Information sent to ticketholders confirmed that all tickets would be refunded, but did note that Live Nation were still hopeful new dates could be scheduled at some stage.
Those who held onto tickets after the shows were originally rescheduled “will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced”.
Fans have responded to the news with sadness and anger, flooding the comment section on The Weeknd’s most recent Instagram post with their disappointment at finding out about the tour cancellation through other sources rather than the singer himself.
“We waited for some form of communication in Aus and now being told today it's fully cancelled,” one fan wrote. “All we wanted was a reason. Aus and NZ will never see that tour now. Always forgotten. Still a die hard fan but pretty upset bro”. Another fan said, “you couldn’t even tell us the AUS leg of the tour had been postponed, we had to hear it from other sources, and now I’m hearing it’s been cancelled completely. we spent hundreds on tickets and hours trying to get them. disappointing”.
Another fan wrote that The Weeknd’s Australian devotees are “disappointed,” one said they’ve “lost all respect,” and another vowed that he’s now their “least favourite artist.” Other fans shared their devastation and shock at the announcement, with the singer officially losing a long-time fan.

Said long-time fan wrote, “Held on to $1200 for two tickets, postponed 3 weeks out and didn’t announce new dates so still had to waste a lot of money going interstate for nothing. I know a lot of other Australians were in a similar situation. It was hard enough even getting the tickets. Thanks for stuffing thousands of people around, for nothing.”
In November, The Weeknd postponed his highly anticipated Australian tour. Citing “unforeseen circumstances”, the hitmaker shocked punters with the news as the tour was due to begin just three weeks after his announcement.
The Weeknd was due to bring his After Hours Til Dawn tour to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. The initial show announcements were met with phenomenal demand, and extra shows were added for each state.
When the shows were postponed in November, The Weeknd shared with fans:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour. New dates will be announced next year, and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can't wait to be there with you!
A Live Nation Australia and New Zealand representative added, “We understand fans will be disappointed, and Live Nation is focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule. We will make a further announcement as soon as possible.”
Last week, The Weeknd took to his Instagram Stories and hinted at new tour dates, writing “See you soon” after reposting a fan’s video captioned “POV: You went to a The Weeknd concert”.
