Bobi Andonov has just released a new track, War Is Love, but this song is anything but new for fans on TikTok and YouTube.
The Melbourne artist wrote War Is Love when he was 18, but it was never officially released. Instead, it ended up at the centre of the ‘Larry’ One Direction fan conspiracy after leaking online, rumoured to be an unreleased Harry Styles track.
Larry, the small but significant online conspiracy theory, is one where some One Direction fans were convinced that Styles and Louis Tomlinson were a secret couple while the group was active.
Backed by significant online buzz, Andonov's track clocked over 8 million views on YouTube (mainly from fan edits using the song), 4million+ views on TikTok, and over 70k Shazams.
Several years later, Andonov is now giving it an official release and teasing it on TikTok, much to the delight of Larries everywhere. You can check it out on streaming services before the video hits YouTube tomorrow.
Influenced by the likes of Michael Hutchence, Prince, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala, Andonov is interested in experimenting and pushing forward musical barriers.
War Is Love is a gorgeous ballad, and listening to Andonov’s vocals, it’s understandable how fans might have thought it was indeed a Harry Styles song. However, with a slightly lower timbre and different style to Harry Styles in 2023, Andonov is in a unique realm of his own.
Earlier this year, Andonov released the single Bad Decisions. The track will also feature in the upcoming romantic drama film, After Everything.
Last year, Andonov released two funk-infused pop tracks, Until The Morning and Night Crawls, under the moniker Drella.
The former arrived alongside an incredible music video by Grey Ghost (Ruel, Hiatus Kayote). It attracted rave reviews on triple j Unearthed, with Abby Butler praising it as “world-class” and Tommy Faith proclaiming it a “certified hit”.
