The Tivoli, one of Brisbane's preeminent entertainment and live music venues, is said to be on the market with an asking price of $10 million, though the current owners aren't seeking out a buyer with much fervour.
According to a report from Fairfax, the venue is still on the market despite two auction dates in July and August of last year were cancelled, though there is not much of a push being made to find a buyer at this time.
"At this stage it's not actively on the market," Leon Alaban of Ray White Hotels told the Brisbane Times. “Future campaigns may be possible but as it stands the owner is settled. It's a reliable business and has been for a number of years and they are happy to wait until such time a buyer can be found.”
Alaban did admit to speaking with the venue's owners – the O'Rourke family – about the possibility of another strong sales push and said that decision was expected within the next two months.
Last year Alaban said the owners, who purchased the property for $1.65 million back in 1999, were going to let the market dictate the price, but Fairfax say that sources confirmed the $10 million price tag yesterday. The O'Rourke's Dromahair Pty Ltd are said to have sunk millions of dollars into the venue's development over the years.
The venue is not heritage listed, so a buyer could potentially knock the theatre down and redevelop the site.
