Official Press Release:
Faultline Records is delighted to announce their first ever full signing of Aussie rock outfit The Scissor File effective immediately. The exciting and dynamic quintet's solid work ethic has had them playing shows nationally for the past 18 months sharing the stage with a diverse range of bands including The Getaway Plan, Trial Kennedy, Horsell Common, The Ivory Line (USA), Calling All Cars, The Hot Lies and Taxi Ride.
A uniquely contagious quirk of The Scissor File is the melodious three part vocals and harmonies splashed with sharp, clever guitar work and pulsating push and pull dance-party rock n roll. The Scissor File live performance has been described as an almost tangible energy generated by five amazing young musicians doing what they do best, sharing the same passion and loving every minute of the dynamic that is created through their combined love to rock... and party! dw Norton, Managing Director, Faultline Records, commented; “I'm not easily impressed, but once in a while a band will come to my attention by a killer live performance or great songs that are undeniable in their appeal... The Scissor File have done just that in such a way that it completely blows me off my feet! These guys are one of the best rock acts to come out of Melbourne in a very long time!
The Scissor File is an extraordinary band, dynamic performers and consummate entertainers. We are looking forward to a wonderful partnership and to the killer EP “Played on 45’s” which is set for release in summer of 2008.” The EP, best described as good honest Aussie rock at its best, features six solid tracks including “Champagne”, “City of Churches” & “Dirty little Secret”.
The sophomore EP is an entrée to new studio recordings that will form The Scissor File’s debut album set for release in May 2009. Danny Baeffel front man and TSF vocalist commented on the deal; “We are really excited about our new record label. The people at Faultline Records are incredibly hard working and tops in their field. We are also immensely stoked to have the opportunity to work with dw Norton and have him producing our EP and debut album” The new label deal ends the association of The Scissor File with Pee Records. “We want to sincerely thank Pete at Pee Records for all of his support and dedicated work and for supporting our debut EP.” said Danny. “We are all really looking forward to this new chapter in partnership with dw Norton and his team at Faultline Records and look forward to a rewarding and enduring musical journey!”
