Big things to come in 2020.

Victorian youth music organisation The Push is turning to the community for support as it announces plans to relocate.

The long-running organisation will move to Collingwood Arts Precinct, where it will establish a new hub for young musicians and future music industry leaders to connect, create and learn.

In order to set up the new space and its accompanying initiatives, The Push is raising $150,000, which will go towards the costs associated with capital infrastructure, acoustic treatment, furniture, co-working suites, training spaces and more.

The new initiatives that will be offered include:

  • An Electronic Music Incubator that will deliver electronic music production workshops and artist in residence programs, as well as a specific stream of programs for young women and gender non-binary music makers, supported by Ableton and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation
  • A contemporary music industry co-working suite that will be the home to a new leading internship program, matching established industry professionals with young music industry practitioners and artists in the early stages of their music career
  • A series of contemporary music industry vocational mentoring programs, masterclasses, professional development and songwriting workshops
  • Regular all-ages events showcasing local and touring artists to a new generation of live music audiences
  • Meeting spaces for all-ages events teams from across Victoria to share ideas, build networks and collaborate
