Get ready, astronauts

Brisbane BYO extravaganza Red Deer Music & Arts Festival is back for its seventh iteration this year with none other than Sydney's The Preatures and Brisbane's The Kite String Tangle serving as 2017's "captains".

Rocking a 'space oddity' theme this year, Red Deer have also enlisted the likes of surf quartet Band Of Frequencies, Shag Rock, The Cool Calm, Mezko, Leanne Tennant, Fire & Whistle Theory, Josh Mcnz, Tiarne, Natalie Welch, Mitch Baskerville, The Lyrics, The Dashounds and DJ Blake Thompson, with more to be announced.

Red Deer co-founder Bas Pelly says, "We always strive to curate a line-up that’s musically diverse, featuring artists of national acclaim as well as shining a light on both local and interstate emerging talent.

"This year’s festivalgoers, or ‘astronauts’ if you will, can look forward to beautiful ballads, energetic roots, and rollicking tunes, before The Kite String Tangle and The Preatures bring the house down with two very different, entertaining sets."

Billed as "basically a house party at your mate's place, except your mate lives on 40 acres of pristine grazing land", Red Deer will also feature activities like belly dancing, meditation, hula hoop workshops, sack race and the Fashion Of The Fields dance-off. Punters can bring their own booze, furniture and camping digs.
