A fresh new sound too!

Gideon Bensen of Sydney band The Preatures has a whole set of new things to unveil today — a new record label, a new solo project, a new single and new tour dates.

The single, All New Low, hails from his forthcoming EP and will be released on his own label Puncture Records, and features influence from hip hop acts like the NWA, Kendrick Lamar and more.

"It’s a world I never really explored until now. I was inspired by acts like N.W.A, Bomb da Bass, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus and D'Angelo's 'Black Messiah’ and wanted to incorporate that into what I was doing.

"All New Low, took everything out of me. While on tour with The Preatures, I found myself working on tracks more and more, up at all hours, in transit, in hotel rooms, wherever I could setup. I was obsessed.

"I felt like I wanted to push myself more. I had some time in Sydney between tours so I contacted my old friend and producer, Tony Buchen with some songs and ideas for an 80's/90’s new wave/soul record. I told him, ‘if I do it I have to go all out. I don’t want to sound like I ever have before.'"

Gideon Bensen will be heading to Melbourne's Shebeen on Friday, 12 February and Sydney's Newtown Social on Saturday, 13 February to showcase his brand new project.
