Ohio indie rock trailblazers The National will return to Australia in February, in a tour that follows their one-off performance at Splendour In The Grass earlier this year.

The tour includes a date at the Sydney Opera House forecourt, which is the first contemporary music show to be announced for the space since renovations started two and a half years ago. With dates also in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as part of the Perth Festival, they are the band's first Australian headline dates since 2010, when they toured with Falls.

Handsome Tours pre-sale for all shows bar Perth are available from Tuesday 29 August, with general public tickets for Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane on sale from 9am Tuesday 3 September. The Sydney Opera House forecourt show goes on sale 9am Friday 30 August, while Perth Festival pre-sales are available from Thursday 7 November and General Public on Tuesday 12 November.
