UK rockers The Libertines are preparing for their massive return to Australia. Today, the band announced their first shows down under since 2018.

The Libertines will return to Australia in April 2025, playing on the East Coast on the following dates: Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday, 12 April, Melbourne’s Forum on Tuesday, 15 April, and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Thursday, 17 April.

Tickets to all shows will be available on Monday, 16 September, at 10 am local time, with a promoter (Secret Sounds) pre-sale opening at 10 am this Friday, 13 September. You can find more ticketing information on the Secret Sounds website.

After releasing 2002’s Up The Bracket and their 2004 self-titled debut, The Libertines went on hiatus, returning after ten years with 2014’s Anthems For Damned Youth. Earlier this year, the band released their fourth album and first release in nearly ten years, All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, which produced the singles Run, Run, Run, Night Of The Hunter, and Shiver.

In a review of their show at Melbourne’s Forum back in 2018, The Music’s Bryget Chrisfield remarked, “The band's caterwauling sound and triple axe assault [former bassist] (John Hassall's on bass) is held together by the powerful drumming of Gary Powell, who looks like some kind of superhero up there.”

Chrisfield added, “What a night! It only serves to make us wish we were living in London when The Libertines were coming up in the scene! Although we may not have lived to tell the tale.”
