For the first time in two years, The Jungle Giants are set to tour around Australia and New Zealand again. The energetic indie-dance quartet announced the tour today (January 30), alongside the release of their new single, Hold My Hand

The 8-stop tour kicks off this April, with The Jungle Giants playing their first show in Sydney on the 4th. They’ll then hit Newcastle on the 5th, Melbourne on the 12th, and Frankson on the 13th. Flying north next, the Brisbane icons will play their hometown on the 25th, before heading down to Brunswick Heads on the 26th. Flying across the ditch after that, The Jungle Giants will close out their tour in New Zealand, with a show in Auckland on May 2, and a final gig in Wellington on May 3.

Joining them - and warming up the dance floor - will be special DJ sets from Sycco and their Extended Family during the Australian shows, while Park RD will be the support act in New Zealand. Pre-sale for The Jungle Giants tour opens at 9am AEDT on February 6, while general sale kicks off a few days later, at 9am AEDT on February 10. Find details here.

As for the new single, Hold My Hand, frontman Sam Hales revealed in a press release that writing the track was the “first time” he could “surface for a breath of air”, following his traumatic jet ski accident last year and the end of his decade-long relationship:

“These are all beautiful, beautiful, positive memories that changed me for the better. It was just really hard to figure out a way to write about it and figure out a way to define how I felt. This song really helped open up a lot of the writing for the album. All the songs I wrote before weren't feeling real enough. Once I landed on Hold My Hand, a lot of things fell into place for me. I had this real emotional reaction to it.

“Things have changed, but there's beauty to all this. I would not do anything differently. This is really important to me as an artist, really important to me as a friend, and a lover and everything. Hold My Hand really captures the feeling of 10 years with someone, and watching the love just evolve,” he said.
