The psych rock legends say it will be "bleak" and "disturbing".
Iconic rockers The Flaming Lips will release a new album entitled The Terror this April.
The industry stalwarts will drop the record in Europe on Monday 1 April and in the US on Tuesday 2 April. No Australian release date has been announced as yet.
The Terror marks the band's thirteenth studio album and in the words of lead singer Wayne Coyne, will be "bleak" and "disturbing". The Lips enlisted the help of longtime producer/collaborator Dave Fridmann in the making of the LP. It will be the first Flaming Lips only record since 2009's Embryonic. In 2012 they released the collaboration album The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends.
The psych rockers are also in the spotlight at the moment thanks to the Superbowl. The band will be releasing a new non-abum track Sun Blows Up Today on Tuesday 29 January. The song and the band will also feature in a commercial during the game for Hyundai. Let's see if this ad becomes part of Superbowl commercial folklore.
