More The Darkness More The Darkness

Let There Be Rock” – That’s what The Darkness demand upon their February 2024 Australian tour, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of their 2003 debut album, Permission To Land.

Featuring the hit single I Believe In A Thing Called Love, as well as Love Is Only A Feeling, Get Your Hands Off My Woman, and many more, the album debuted at #17 in Australia and subsequently reached Platinum status. I Believe In A Thing Called Love debuted at #40 on the Australian singles chart.

In 2024, The Darkness won’t be asking for Permission To Land at Melbourne’s Festival Hall (Saturday, 3 February), Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall (Wednesday, 7 February), or Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion (Saturday, 10 February). A press release notes to “stay tuned for more tour news for the rest of Australia and New Zealand”.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, 14 September, at 10 am AEDT – sign up here for early access to tickets.

“When Permission to Land landed twenty short years ago, we were bathed in shock and awe. As if by magic, rock wasn’t dead! Fun wasn’t banned! And spandex was almost acceptable again… Well, guess what? Twenty years on, the same rules apply,” The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins commented in a press release.

“So please squeeze yourselves into those inappropriate leggings, back-comb your mullet, splash on a big handful of attitude, and come celebrate with us! We promise everything, and we deliver every time. Bring on the next twenty!”

In addition to the Permission To Land (and B-sides and rarities) celebrations, The Darkness have locked in Australian support acts, including You Am I performing their Spinal Tap tribute show, The Majesty of Tap; DZ Deathrays, Cry Club and DJ Eleven and DJ Denim.

The Darkness last toured Australia in October 2022, scoring a sold-out run honouring their “trademark blazing guitar riffs and solos, soaring falsetto and immeasurable rock‘n’roll extravagance”.
