More The Cure More The Cure

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their critically-acclaimed eighth album, Disintegration, music icons The Cure will return to Australia this year to perform exclusive shows in support of Vivid LIVE 2019.

The UK outfit will hit the country in May and play four shows at the iconic Sydney Opera House in what will be the world premiere of the anniversary tour.

“Vivid LIVE is a wonderful international event," frontman Robert Smith said.

"Our Reflections shows in 2011 were truly memorable experiences, and with the excitement surrounding those early album performances in mind, we are more than delighted to be announcing our return in May 2019 to present the world premiere of Disintegration - 30th Anniversary.”

Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music and Vivid LIVE Curator, Ben Marshall, added, “Disintegration sealed The Cure’s undisputed position of global dominance while defiantly remaining outsiders who created an artistic body of work of lasting significance.

"An immaculately glacial, majestic album marrying raw, intense emotion with some of the biggest hits of their career, Disintegration links the spectral sorrow of Unknown Pleasures with the menacing catharsis of Nevermind."

Following its release in 1989, Disintegration cracked the top ten of music charts around the world and includes some of The Cure's biggest hits, including Pictures Of You and Lovesong.

It will mark The Cure's first trip to Australia since they headlined Splendour In The Grass in 2016.

A ticket ballot for the shows opens today. Click here for more details or scroll down.
