The Buoys are back in town. On Friday (17 July), the Sydney alt-rockers announced that their highly anticipated second album, Concrete Cowboy, will drop in October, and to support the record, they’ll be hitting the road.

Concrete Cowboy is home to the band’s recently released singles, Bitch, Kill You Back, and Welcome to My Brain, the latter dropping on streaming services yesterday. The new album arrives on Friday, 23 October, and can be pre-ordered/pre-saved here.

Based on the concept of having “too many tabs open,” The Buoys explore the cost of keeping pace with a world that never slows down, and what they found after finally letting go of expectations. Like their previous work, the album is home to sharp songwriting, big emotions, and punchy riffs.

Produced by Chris Collins, The Buoys blend their signature introspective storytelling and rock sound with new inspirations, drawing from the likes of Nile Rodgers, The 1975, HAIM, and The Beths, as well as lyrical revelations from ‘80s cult classic films.

Starting with an album launch show at Sydney’s Crowbar on release day, The Buoys continue their forthcoming tour at Brisbane’s The Brightside on Saturday, 24 October, Adelaide’s Jive on Sunday, 25 October, Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Friday, 30 October, and conclude the run at Perth’s Indian Ocean Hotel on Saturday, 31 October.

For the tour, The Buoys will be joined by special guests Oscar the Wild. Fan club tickets will be available via the band’s mailing list on Monday, 20 July, followed by the general sale on Tuesday, 21 July. You can secure your tickets via The Buoys’ website.

After their headline shows, The Buoys—along with C.O.F.F.I.N.—will open Foo Fighters’ show at Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium on Thursday, 12 November. You can find tickets to the show here.

Concrete Cowboy is the follow-up to The Buoys’ debut album, Lustre, released in 2024. The album debuted at #7 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and was named triple j’s feature album following its release.
