Legendary producer and “the fifth Beatle” George Martin has passed away aged 90.
American sites are reporting a Universal Music Group spokesperson confirmed the news, while no cause of death has been revealed.
The news of Martin's passing gained momentum quickly this afternoon after Ringo Starr tweeted about the loss.
“God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara George will be missed,” Starr said.

Martin helped shape The Beatles’ sound by assisting them in getting a record deal and contributing to their early works in the ‘60s.
The award-winning industry icon also worked with Cilla, America, Jeff Beck, Cheap Trick, Ella Fitzgerald, Dire Straits, Sting, Meat Loaf and a wealth of other acts over the years.
