Ten Songs We Want Spoon To Play During Their Aus Tour

"Crowds will riot if this song is not played live."

With their highly anticipated ninth studio album Hot Thoughts set to drop March 17, US rockers Spoon are packing their bags for a whirlwind Aussie tour. Here are 10 songs we want to see on the setlist when they take on Sydney and Melbourne.

10:20am

They always calm things down after one or two of their heavier numbers and this would be an AWESOME palate cleanser to hear live but they so rarely, if ever, do it.

Paper Tiger

Probably the most un-Spoon song they've ever written next to The Ghost Of You Lingers. It's an absolute jaw dropper and full of tricky little-warped synths and sparse percussion that would bring an audience to a standstill.

Everything Hits at Once

Seriously, they could open with this but never do. Groovy as shit.

Jonathan Fisk

A complete banger.

The Ghost of You Lingers

Ga (x5)'s most obscure and stand-out track. How nobody in the band thought, "This is the most annoying thing ever composed by anybody on a piano in all of human history" is a miracle because it's spellbinding. Melancholic but melodic. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Rent I Pay

Violent snare and menacing guitar riff. One of the best songs off They Want My Soul.

They Want My Soul

Brings Kill the Moonlight full-circle with another mention of the bully Jonathan Fisk. A hand clapper among the already eleventy billion hand clappers they've already written.

The Book I Write

Featured on the Stranger Than Fiction OST and frequently referred to people unfamiliar with it as 'The McDonalds song' because it has a riff similar to "I'm lovin' it". Straight up happy and playful. Not a staple theme in Britt Daniels' repertoire but it totally works.

Out Go the Lights

The most underrated song on Transference, their most underrated album. It's stripped back but brings out some of Daniels' best vocals.

The Underdog

Crowds will riot if this song is not played live. There's nothing more to say, really.
