Techno Pioneer Juan Atkins Cancels Tour

Food poisoning blamed

More Juan Atkins Juan Atkins Profile

Detroit techno pioneer Juan Atkins has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour, which was due to start tomorrow, with a severe case of food poisoning citied as the cause.

A note from promoters Novel said today, “Juan Atkins will not be able to perform due to a severe case of food poisoning that has left him hospitalised.

“His condition is improving, however his doctor has said that he is not ready to be released in time for his Australian shows.”

They claimed that they are sourcing replacement dates in August or October.

The tour was due to start tomorrow night (Friday 12 July) at Melbourne's Brown Alley and now Phil Kieran and Funk D Void will be playing extended sets. Punters can seek refunds or receive a $5.50 discount at the door and guaranteed entry to Atkins' rescheduled dates.

Atkins has also been booked to play Adelaide's Sugar Saturday 13 July and Sydney's The Basement Saturday 20 July.
