More SZA More SZA

American R&B singer-songwriter SZA has announced her long-awaited return to Australia for the first time since July 2019.

SZA will bring her SOS tour – the shows in support of her December 2022 chart-topping album of the same name – to Australia and New Zealand this April, effectively ruling her out of Splendour In The Grass headlining rumours (the festival takes place in late July).

The SOS tour begins with two dates at Auckland’s Spark Arena on 15 and 16 April before the Kill Bill singer heads to Brisbane on Friday, 19 April. From there, she hosts two shows in Sydney and Melbourne: she arrives at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday, 23 and Wednesday, 24 April, and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30 April.

The tour is presented in partnership with Live Nation and Secret Sounds. The Secret Sounds and Live Nation pre-sales will be available at the same time – from Friday, 9 February, at 2 pm local time until 1 pm on Monday, 12 February – with the general sale beginning Monday, 12 February, at 2 pm local time. You can find tickets here and here.

SOS contains 23 essential tracks and includes features from Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Kill Bill is the first ever #1 single for the US artist in Australia, surpassing her #2 peaks as a guest on All The Stars (26 February 2018) with Kendrick Lamar and Kiss Me More with Doja Cat. The album follows her 2017 debut, Ctrl.

Following the release of SOS, the album sat atop the Billboard 200 chart for ten non-consecutive weeks – the most among albums by women in seven years.

SZA was the most nominated artist at the 2024 Grammy Awards, with nine nominations to her name. She ended up taking home three awards – Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS, Best R&B Song for Snooze, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her duet with Phoebe Bridgers, Ghost In The Machine.
