A week after announcing his departure from the UK metalcore outfit Architects so he could focus on Sylosis full-time, it’s clear that Josh Middleton wasn’t kidding about his full-time return with the band.

Sylosis have announced their sixth album, A Sign Of Things To Come, as well as the new single, Poison For The Lost. The new track follows the previously released Deadwood.

The album will be released on Friday, 8 September, via Nuclear Blast Records. You can pre-order A Sign Of Things To Come here.

Sylosis love a good fade out, but before that pleasing end to Poison For The Lost arrives, the band sound incredible: it’s a punchy metal song that’s a wonderful sign of things to come. Check out the electrifying music video below.

"This has been a homecoming for me, in many ways,” Middleton said in a statement, per Metal Injection. "We're confident that we've created something special with our new record and we can't wait for you to hear the new music over coming months ahead of the release in September."

A Sign Of Things To Come was produced by Middleton and powerhouse Scott Atkins (Cradle Of Filth, Behemoth, Amon Amarth). Middleton said about the experience, "This is the first time I've allowed myself to be produced; taking on some brutal criticism and pushing myself to deliver the best vocal performance of my career.

"I'm a big fan of progressive and long albums, but I was ruthless on myself during the whole process. I think that shows in the final result on the record!"

This is an album he’s proud of. Middleton continued, via Kerrang!, "We're confident that we've created something special with our new record and we can't wait for you to hear the new music over coming months ahead of the release in September."

Josh Middleton departed Architects after six years in the band. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce Josh’s time in the band has come to an end,” Architects wrote on Instagram this week. “It has gradually become apparent that we need to go our separate ways, but we remain close friends.

They added, “We wish him the best in his future endeavours and we suggest that everyone keeps an eye out for the new Sylosis record later this year.”

Josh Middleton played on the Architects' albums Holy Hell (2018), For Those That Wish To Exist (2021), and the classic symptoms of a broken spirit (October 2022). For Those That Wish To Exist debuted at #1 in Australia, while the classic symptoms of a broken spirit landed at #8.
