Rekōdo restaurant and vinyl bar will open Friday the 16th of September.
A new restaurant and vinyl bar has just opened in Barangaroo with an epic opening residency.
The venue's name, Rekōdo is a nod to Japanese listening rooms, enlisting the likes of Meg Mac, Donny Benét and Lazywax as guest musical curators for the venue's opening months.
It will serve Japanese inspired food, sake cocktails and wine with the setting of a killer soundtrack curated by a collective of tastemaker artists.
Vinyl DJs will spin from Thursday to Sunday, with the opening Rekōdo residency featuring Ayebatonye, Adi Toohey and Soul Of Sydney DJs. Alongside the program the venue will enlist a guest curator to curate the venue's in house music every month
Meg Mag is first up, serving patrons a collection of singer-songwriter jams throughout September. Then will follow Donny Benét with Japanese funk, pop and ambient in October. Sydney dance duo Lazywax will round it out in November, paying homage to classic disco of the seventies and eighties.
“I think there’s something about the pace of listening to a vinyl record. It slows everything down. You sit down and listen a bit more intently, and I think you end up appreciating the music more. That’s why I’m really excited to be involved with Rekōdo; it’s bringing that vinyl culture to Sydney,” said Donny Benét.
