Sydney will host a New Year's Day party next month.
We might be approaching the middle of 2021 (already?!) but one Aussie festival has its sights set on New Year’s Day – that is, the one that happened nearly five months ago.
Promoters T1000 Events, the team behind Electric Gardens Festival, were forced to postpone their sold-out NYD event due to COVID, but they’re now returning with A New Year (Better Late Than Never), a multi-stage party with pyrotechnic production at “Sydney’s spiritual home of house and techno”, The Greenwood Hotel.
The May 8 festival will feature 28 DJs over 10 hours, including Ricky Cooper, Mark Craven, Robbie Lowe, Hoten, Summit DJs, Jerry Drew, Nick Reverse and more.
“We’ve been very patient waiting for this window of opportunity to arrive and are over the moon that we can finally welcome twenty twenty fun in style,” T1000 Director Damian Gelle said.
“This is an absolute first celebrating New Year’s Day as late as May 8. We’ve sold it out once, rescheduled it twice, refunded people, put tickets back on sale.
“We have been absolutely relentless that this celebration should still happen. And it will!”

Sydney DJ Robbie Lowe added: “Sydney’s regular slew of awesome NYD parties were sorely missed this year, so to have the opportunity to re-do New Year’s Day at one of the city’s best venues for a festive up-for-it crowd is pretty damn exciting. I can’t wait!”
