The NSW artist will release his self-titled maiden work this May

Sydney artist Mossy is stacking his plate with positive prospects for 2016, starting with the news that he's inked a deal with renowned local label I OH YOU ahead of the release of his self-titled debut EP this year.

The eclectic, synth-loving electro-head will unleash the debut — which is the product of more than a year's work in a New York studio, with mixing handled by Beyonce/Jay Z engineer Stuart White — via his new label home in May. It's been preceded by his first single, Electric Chair, the accompanying clip for which recently premiered on Stereogum and provides a soft-focus-heavy, occasionally macabre visual complement to the track's ethereal soundscape.

It's a remarkably assured composition from an artist in the nascent throes of his career, and a fittingly tantalising slice of what to expect from the rising muso on the five-track extended player as he establishes his voice and makes himself known as one of the nation's acts most definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Mossy, the EP, will be released via I OH YOU on 13 May. Pre-orders are available now via the artist's website
