Visconti produced the late Bowie's last album, Blackstar

Hailed music producer and Grammy-winner Tony Visconti is the first of multiple keynote speakers to be announced for the upcoming South By Southwest (SXSW) festival that will run over the course of six days in Austin, Texas.

Indeed, Visconti’s personal and musical relationship to the late rock legend David Bowie is the main attracting point as he gets set to shed light on the illustrious life and lore of Ziggy Stardust. The 71-year-old Brooklyn native produced Bowie’s Young Americans and Heroes albums as well as performing on a handful of his other works.

Most recently, he co-produced Blackstar, Bowie’s last studio album before his tragic death from cancer earlier this month.

Visconti’s talent as a producer and overall experience in the industry are unparalleled. He has worked a plethora of esteemed artists including T-Rex, U2, Iggy Pop and Thin Lizzy over the course of a career that has spanned nearly 50 years.

Visconti’s opening keynote will take place on Wednesday, 16 March at 11am in Room 18ABCD of the Austin Convention Center.

SXSW will kick off on 15 March in Austin with an estimated 30,000 people set to attend the sessions at what is one of the most renowned festivals in the world.
