Astral People have just announced the star-studded lineup for the season finale of their day to night party series Summer Dance on April 19th.
The Summer Dance party series is a hot, sweaty staple for late-night boogies during Sydney’s warmer seasons. Over the years, the party has cultivated a massive community who come together to celebrate purpose, diversity and expression within the wider DJ and dance community. As the ‘24-’25 season draws to a close, they are pulling out the big guns for the season finale held at Liberty Hall Courts, guaranteeing you a party that’ll keep you satisfied right up until ‘25-’26 Summer Dance season rolls around.
Continuing the series’ ethos of celebrating empowering the diaspora of the dance community, the Summer Dance season finale will be headlined by British-Punjabi DJ Yung Singh, supported by MESSIE b2b C.FRIM, Kayan and Kafi.
Singh has been a notable pillar for the revitalisation of the British-Punjabi and South Asian music scenes, going in between everything from hip hop, rap, dance and Punjabi music in his viral DJ sets. From his residency on BBC Radio 1 to his career defining appearances on Boiler Room, Singh is the ideal headliner to captivate the Summer Dance community one last time. Aotearoa-based talent MESSIE is another heavy hitter on the international DJ circuits, having captured the attention of Fred Again… with her official remix of places to be featuring Anderson .Paak and CHIKA, and trailblazed her way through to appearances across the UK, Europe and locally at festivals Beyond The Valley and Wildlands. For Summer Dance, MESSIE shares the decks with Naarm-based talent C.FRIM, a true pioneer on the local DJ fronts and a known figure in redefining dance music in so-called Australia.
Closing out the day section of Summer Dance is Indian musician, producer-DJ Kayan, who is capable of controlling any room with her blend of electronic and R&B music, and local mainstay Kafi, best known for their affiliation with South Asian creative collective Kerfew, and collaborations with acts like moktar, Deepa and Wavyracer.
The AFTER DARK section of the Summer Dance finale will be headlined by British-Lebanese producer Saliah, alongside Nina Las Vegas, Nash and Brown Suga Princess. Saliah will be providing remixes of Arabic classics, bass-heavy club music and high-energy electronica, while NLV Records labelhead and producer-DJ Nina Las Vegas takes over Summer Dance with her one-of-one DJ sets, which have taken her to appearances at Coachella, SXSW Austin and several local Boiler Room slots. Delhi-based DJ Nash will offer a blend of disco, garage, techno and classic Hindustani music, and local event producer and community organiser Brown Suga Princess will bring their love of bass, footwork and jungle to the final Summer Dance AFTER DARK of the season.
