The word 'evolution' gets thrown around a lot these days, but Storm The Sky have really embraced the phrase with their newest single/video combo.

New track, 'Lilac' is a more trendy, more poppy venture for the group, but is still leagues ahead of what they normally produce. Now, I'm sure there'll be a few songs of 'Sin Will Find You' that'll be more musically in touch with the likes of 'S.W.F.Y.', but I do hope there are a few more delicate cuts like this on the new record.
The visuals that accompanied their last single, the rather solid 'Jaded Ghost', just seemed like a random mess of clips and colorful hazy filters in order to be "artsy". Whereas 'Lilac' is a much more cohesive piece, and is an evocative tale of failed relationships, obsession, and some good old fashion drug-filled self-destruction. With a very dynamic, melodic and almost abstract track overlaying the crisp cinematography, you end up with a great film clip on your hands.
See, other bands!? Do you see this shit!? Start ditching all of those performance shots of you playing in the woods or in one of your mate's houses, and give the world a good narrative and story, goddamnit! Save the performance shots for when you do an actual playthrough video.

Also, I love it when the lyrics are spoken, or in the case of a music video, mouthed by the characters. It adds some real weight to the story and a better connection than the usual formula of 'visual + music = video'. It's why Thrice's 'Black Honey' music video is so effective, and I wish this clip did it more. Though that doesn't detract from the overall quality here, mind you, so go and watch it below.
