"when we were young is a song that recognises what is gained and what is lost as we get older" says Dan Searle. "as the world unfolds around us we can become overwhelmed by its endless complexity. when i was 20 I thought I had the whole thing sussed, today i’m pretty sure i’ll never understand reality. we lose our innocence as we age, and although fatalism and cynicism can creep in, we also begin to shift our focus toward gratitude for existence and for those that we love."

More Architects More Architects

On top of the list of things I didn't expect to find while tossing & turning in my sleep and rolling onto my phone at 3AM was a brand new, surprise Architects song!

'when we were young' was premiered on BBC Radio 1 Future Sounds show last night, as the ‘Hottest Record in the World’. The video dropped shortly after & the song is on all streaming services now!

The track is explosive from the get-go. The guitar work is a step in a new direction for the Brighton 5 piece. I was almost expecting a 'blegh' to be slipped in as the first vocal but when Sam Carters soars in sounding heavier than ever you're taken far away from expecting anything & very easily just enjoy the ripper track.

The video is a simple concept, spinning a camera around the band as they play & I love that because it's just 5 guys slamming a banging track & demonstrating who the hell Architects are, don't forget that they’re the best of the best.

There is no news yet on whether or not we can expect more new music. Is this the start of a new era/album cycle? Fingers crossed because DAMN it's good.
