And they still can’t tune their guitars.
Sticky Fingers bassist Paddy Fingers doesn't mince words when he admits that when the band started out, they probably weren't worth the praise that is now getting heaped upon their debut record, Caress Your Soul.
“We were fucking awful, we were shit!” he confessed in a recent interview.
Thankfully, since their inception on Newtown's King Street, the band has surpassed their humble beginnings to become one of Sydney's most-hyped underground rock bands. But they haven't let a polished performance get in the way of good ol'-fashioned rock. In fact, Paddy thinks the band's technical limitations might be just why the band has earned such rapturous praise in the rock underground.
“Dylan [the band's frontman] still doesn't know how to play chords: me and Seamus [guitar] still have to tune his guitar for him. That's why, and even with this new album – which is as polished as anything we've ever done – still has this raw, primal sensibility to it.”
