Introducing 'Drag Race Australia'.

It looks like an Australian version of popular reality show RuPaul's Drag Race is in the works.

As reported by TV Tonight, ITV Studios Australia has picked up the rights for Drag Race Australia from Passion Distribution and World Of Wonder.

ITV Studios Australia CEO David Mott confirmed the news saying,  "Yes, ITV Studios Australia have secured the rights to arguably one of the biggest formats globally at the moment".

The US program, hosted by RuPaul Charles, first aired in 2009 and is about to enter its 12th season. The show has also sparked spin-off seasons, including four all star editions, a newly launched UK season and a Christmas special in 2018.

The US show has so far included one Australian contestant, former Australian Idol contestant Courtney Act, who has since gone on to win Celebrity Big Brother UK as well as compete in both Eurovision: Australia Decides and Dancing With The Stars
