Splendour Announces Additional Programming For Upcoming XR Event

Virtual festival Splendour XR kicks off later this month!

With only 19 days to go until Splendour XR arrives, organisers have revealed additional ‘stages’ with a slew of new programming.

Described as “a virtual world where music, art and culture reign supreme” and “where lockdowns and social distancing don’t exist”, the virtual festival was announced last month.

Its main stage will feature huge sets from previously announced talent Khalid, The Killers, Chvrches, Denzel Curry, Tash Sultana, Masked Wolf, Violent Soho, Phoebe Bridgers, The Avalanches and stacks more across July 24 and 25, while other new ‘stages’ offer something for everyone.

Laughs during the event will go down at the Comedy Club with a line-up that features Nazeem Hussain, Anne Edmonds, Tom Ballard, Nath Valvo, Zoë Coombs Marr, Geraldine Hickey, Michelle Brasier, Harley Breen, Lloyd Langford, Greg Larsen, Ivan Aristeguieta, Alex Ward, Sonia Di Iorio, Tim Hewitt, Luka Muller, Kirsty Webeck, Emma Holland and Scout Boxall.

Offering up “some deep deliberation, speculation and contemplation”, The Forum will boast comedians, composers, actors, academics, scientists and more, including Kira Puru, Wafia, Dr Karl, Cassie Workman and more.

Described as a “Zen oasis”, Global Village will feature “a great mix of culture, mindfulness and performance” across a program that boasts cabaret, spoken word, storytelling, circus arts, music, drum and dance and more.

Tipi Forest will feature produces and DJs April Kerry, Hypnotech, Staunch, Mama Quilla, Morgazmk, Purple Hayes, Skram, Surge, Taya and Tetrameth, alongside set design and lighting by Spectacle Art and VJ visuals from Eyebyte, Just Chuck and John Carolan

Rounding out the announcement is Little Splendour XR which will “treat rug rats to performances by some of Australia’s most popular children’s bands and performers”, including Poppy Galactic & The Beat, Red Rocket 3, dirtgirl, scrapboy, The Mini Moshers, Tiptoe Giants, Shorty Brown, Tony Twist and more.
