"It has been heartbreaking to see the flood damage on such a huge scale and also to hear so many stories of loss."

When they announced this year's festival had sold out yet again (for the sixth year running, FYI), Splendour In The Grass organisers also detailed that a flood relief initiative would soon be announced. Well, here it is and it's an awesome one.

Splendour will be auctioning off 50 super-exclusive, generally music industry only, gold passes to raise money for those affected by the floods in the Northern Rivers area of NSW.

An auction will run each day from Tuesday, 2 May to Friday, 5 May from 9am to 9pm, where you'll be able to bid on the VIP passes. With a $500 reserve each, each gold pass will entail access to the Gold Bar at Splendour, Amphitheatre side of stage viewing and also the Golden View Bar, overlooking the main stage.

100% of the net proceeds will be donated to Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre Inc, Lismore City Council Flood Appeal and Tweed Mayor Appeal Fund.

Splendour's Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco state, "Splendour is proud to call Northern NSW home and many of our event team live and operate businesses across the Lismore, Byron and Tweed Shires.

"It has been heartbreaking to see the flood damage on such a huge scale and also to hear so many stories of loss. We hope that this fundraising initiative will provide assistance to those who need it most."

So dig deep for the cause — they're a one-time offer and organisers have once again implored punters to not buy these passes if they show up on any other auction sites other than Splendour's. The passes are non-transferable and will include the buyer's name and date of birth.
