Spiderbait To Celebrate 25 Years With 2016 National Tour

Tickets on sale this week

More Spiderbait Spiderbait Profile

Veteran Aussie outfit Spiderbait will mark a quarter of a century together next year, and they're heralding the occasion in fitting style with a handful of headline tour dates around the country to complement last year's sold-out run of shows.

The band will get under way for their commemorative tour at Fremantle's Metropolis on Friday 12 February, heading across to The Gov, Adelaide, on 13 February, and wrapping up with the east-coast capital hat trick: Brisbane (The Triffid, 19 February), Melbourne (170 Russell, 26 February) and Sydney (Metro Theatre, 27 February).

In conjunction with the 25th-anniversary shows, Universal will be releasing Spiderbait's Greatest Hits as a vinyl double album; pre-orders are available now. Of course, it's safe to say that 1991's Spiderbait probably hadn't even considered that their career arc would be what it would ultimately become, with Kram admitting that, at their first rehearsal, the band simply "jammed Cosmic Psychos and Dinosaur Jr covers".

"We definitely had no idea that we would become the band we have," Kram said in a statement. "We were kinda cool but kinda crap too, but didn't care. It was such fun to play together. Still is!"
