Spiderbait Announce First National Headline Tour In A Decade

5 June 2014 | 9:45 am | Staff Writer

Fans are in for career-spanning retrospective across five dates in August

More Spiderbait More Spiderbait

Aussie rock royalty Spiderbait have delivered the best news so far today in the form of the announcement that they'll be shaking off the road rust this August and setting out for their first national headline tour in a decade.

Yes, before taking to the stage alongside the likes of Jimmy Barnes and Gary Allan at October's Deni Ute Muster, the band will set out on a five-city tour, with stops in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

The show will canvass Spiderbait's full catalogue – taking in classic cuts such as Buy Me A Pony, Monty, Four On The Floor and Black Betty – and including never-before-toured songs from last year's self-titled seventh LP. In addition to recent singles Straight Through The Sun and It's Beautiful, punters can expect to hear forthcoming release Miss The Boat from that album, too.

The tour will commence at Sydney's Metro Theatre on Friday, August 8, before heading to Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, and winding up at Melbourne's Corner Hotel on August 29.

Since their humble shed-based beginnings about 25 years ago, Spiderbait has ascended to legendary status among the Aussie rock landscape, previously racking up top spots in both the ARIA Singles chart and triple j Hottest 100, achieving double platinum and multi-platinum status alongside their numerous ARIA Award wins and festival appearances – so it's safe to say that, if you're already a fan, you'll be clamouring at this chance, and if you're not yet acquainted, now is pretty much the perfect opportunity to change that.

Tickets go on sale June 17; check the Gig Guide or Spiderbait's Facebook page for more information regarding venues and purchasing details.
