‘Spicks & Specks’ To Introduce New Game In Upcoming Season

As if the return of Spicks & Specks later this year wasn’t exciting enough, it’s been revealed its comeback will bring with it a brand-new game.

Last month, it was confirmed that the beloved ABC show was returning for 10 new episodes that will air as part of the broadcaster’s 90th-anniversary program.

As TV Tonight reports, those new episodes will feature a new game called Secret Song.

“Throughout every episode, I drop clues and hints as to what a Secret Song is and then at the end of the show, they get bonus points if they work it out,” Adam Hills said.

“But we’ve designed it in a way so that if you’re watching it at home, hopefully, you’ve also got the game to play. Some of the clues are really obvious, like dropped lyrics. One clue involved me pulling out a hemorrhoid cushion. So some things can be obscure.”

Hills also spoke about what to expect from some of the upcoming season's guests: “Montaigne talks about how she wants to write the anthem for the next Women’s World Cup and did a collaboration with David Byrne.

“I literally just walked out of a room where we were working on next week’s show with one of the guys from the electronic duo Peking Duk who talked about how crossing the border from one country to another they smoked everything they had on the bus and then got so high he forgot the word for ‘toothbrush'.”

Also confirmed by ABC last month in the same announcement, Zan Rowe's Take 5, a regular segment on her Friday mornings show on Double J, is getting its own TV series later this year. The beloved show sees her deliver an in-depth interview that uses music to tell the story of her special guest, which originally ran on triple j. 

It's featured the likes of Paul McCartney, Jessica Mauboy, Mike D, Shirley Manson, Billy Corgan, Kylie Minogue and Common just to name a few. 

The new season of Spicks & Specks is currently being filmed ahead of its airing later this year.
