As if Queensland summer isn’t warm enough, this year, it’s warming up even more with the introduction of Southwave.

First held on 2 and 3 January with the likes of Folamour, Maribou State, Wax'o Paradiso, and others performing, the EDM meets the outdoors series continues throughout this month and carries on into February.

The excitement continues on Friday, 23 January, with DJ Seinfeld headlining the evening. Not Without Friends – the new group led by Luke Alessi, Jordan Brando and William Kiss – perform on Saturday, 24 January, and Jimi Jules on Sunday, 25 January.

February is also set to go off with a bang, with a Natural Steps Takeover, Rose Gray, BIG WETT, and a Family Tree Takeover leading the fun. You can find the line-ups for the upcoming events below.

Entry to the Southwave main event site is free, but registration is essential. You can register to attend any of the shows here.

Southwave: Summer Electronic Series is presented by South Bank, Double Agency and The Tivoli Group, offering nine summer nights of music that transform Rainforest Green into an open-air dancefloor. In addition to live music, there are pop-up bars, delicious food, and more.

“Electronic music has always been about connection and possibility. This series takes the spirit of the club and puts it into the heart of the city - celebrating the diversity, creativity and boldness of the scene in a way that is open to everyone,” said Dave Sleswick, Curator and Creative Director, The Tivoli Group.

Sleswick continued, “We’re giving artists and audiences space to dance, breathe and celebrate what Brisbane can be when culture is accessible, ambitious and proudly ours.”

“Brisbane is entering a moment in time where our public spaces can and should be reimagined as spaces for art, music and togetherness — where young people, tourists and electronic music lovers can all share the same dancefloor. This program isn’t just about showcasing world-class artists; it’s about reshaping how we experience our amazing city together.”

“Free, open-air events of this scale are rare, and we’re proud to offer something joyful, generous and ambitious for the humans of Brisbane. Through Southwave, we’re building the cultural muscle of the city - one dancefloor at a time.”

South Bank CEO Julia Scodellaro added, “Southwave will add a new rhythm to South Bank’s summer.”

“Our collaboration with The Tivoli Group reflects a shared commitment to supporting artists, celebrating diversity and making culture accessible to everyone. We’re looking forward to making this summer at South Bank one to remember, through shared experiences, great music and moments that bring people together.”
