Reformed alternative rockers Soundgarden have recently affirmed that their first studio album in over fifteen years is expected for release next year, with the band careful not to rush any new material.
Speaking to prominent news organisation Reuters, Soundgarden, namely lead guitarist Kim Thayil told fans that the band don't want to push for a hasty release, with the aim instead to take time to maximise the album's impact.
"If we were to say, 'Let's get this record out by the fall', I think it would put a lot of pressure on us and the quality would at some point suffer. And the more we enjoy it, the more our fans should end up enjoying it," Thayil said.
Lead vocalist Chris Cornell told music publication SPIN back in March that the music itself is paramount this time around.
"We're putting the music first…The process of writing, recording, and being creative together is the most important thing, not meeting a deadline."
