"It is about time that we get a band that can deliver a Superbowl-like performance without the crazy price tag and theatrics."
Following the recent backlash from the all-international, zero-Australian performances at the AFL Grand Final this October, a few punters are petitioning for LA glam metal band Steel Panther to grace the stage at the 2016 Grand Final.
Launched as a change.org petition, the petition states, "The last 15 years has been plagued by Top 40 artists who know nothing about our beloved sport. Every year the media always complains about Grand Final Performances. That they are never up to the standard of a real Grand Final performance. No matter what the AFL does the Superbowl will do it tenfold.
"It is about time that we get a band that can deliver a Superbowl-like performance without the crazy price tag and theatrics."
Offering some forethought on how the band can "deliver a family friendly show without vulgar lyrics they are most known for", the petition even links footage of a show at an LA Kiss football game.

Realistically, the petition is only looking for 100 signatures (it already has 55), so we're not sure if the petition will have the impact it really needs to make this happen — particularly as the band won't be in the country at the time and would have to be flown out specifically. If Steel Panther do play, there's also the risk the show will face the same backlash it faced this year.
But to each their own; if you're wanting to see "a real band that would bring back to balls to the AFL Grand Final Pre-Show", you can sign the petition here.
