SmoothFM Widens Lead As Triple M Takes A Hit In Latest Radio Ratings Survey

And Mix dominates over Nova in Perth

The results of the sixth survey of radio ratings for the five-city metro demographic have been revealed, with seemingly unstoppable station SmoothFM 95.3 widening its lead over nearest competitor KIIS106.5 in Sydney and closing in on hit101.9 FoxFM and Gold FM in Melbourne.

Sydney

The winds of change are in the air; after a solid period of unchallenged dominance, SmoothFM have sustained last round's rating with the weekday share of 9.7, while Triple M have taken a huge hit, dropping 1.1 points to hold a rating of 5.4.

KIIS106.5 have taken a mini-beating with a drop of 0.9 in the breakfast slot with Kyle & Jackie O, though they held strong on their overall rating of 8.3. Triple j remained fairly steady with a minor drop of 0.6 points overall.

Melbourne

With a rating of 7.8 overall, SmoothFM 91.5 caught up to GOLD104.3's 8.6 rating (down 0.2 from the last outing) and hit101.9 FoxFM's 8.8 rating (steady from the last outing).

Clearly, the oldies' stations are ruling in Melbourne once again, with 105.1 Triple M closing in with a share of 7.9 — a rise of 0.3 points. The rock station also took out the crowd for #1 breakfast show with Hot Breakfast at 9.2, a rise of 0.8 points. Triple J took a big hit in the evening slot, however, taking a 1.4 point hit and settling on a share of 4.0.

Brisbane

Nova106.9 is still king in Brisbane with an overall share of 13.9, though they took a 1.2 rating drop. 104.5 Triple M, 97.3FM and Hit105 all remained fairly steady, coming in at 10.0 (-0.2 from last time), 12.4 (0.3 rise from last time) and 10.7 (steady from last time) respectively.

Triple j enjoyed a little bump overall to take out a weekday share of 8.8, with healthy boosts in the morning and afternoon slots too (1.0 and 1.1 ratings rises respectively). 

Perth

Mix 94.5 remained Perth's top station this survey, taking out a hefty 1.2 point increase to secure an overall share of 16.4. Nova93.7 lost their breakfast slot crown this time, taking a 1.5 point hit (and a 1.7 hit in shares overall) while Mix 94.5 took a whopping 1.9 point increase (now 15.0 points) and now the breakfast lead. HIT 92.9 also took a 1.1 increase in shares in the breakfast slot, now at 10.5. 

Adelaide

Having experienced drops across the board in the last outing, triple j has picked themselves up with a 0.1 overall rating boost and small rises in the morning (0.6 points), afternoon (0.2 points) and weekend slots (0.1 slots).

Mix 102.3 and Nova91.9 are both extremely strong this survey, with Mix taking the lead and enjoying a 1.3 boost in shares, now 16.0 overall. while Nova scored a 1.5 point rise and is now holds a share of 11.3 overall.
