Smash Mouth have pulled the plug on their Australian tour only a week out from its scheduled start.
If you were hoping to get a hit of ‘90s nostalgia you’re going to have to wait a little longer, as promoters have promised to reschedule the tour for March next year.
The official word:
“Smash Mouth are reluctantly cancelling their Australia and New Zealand 2012 Tour but will reschedule and come back in 2013. Tour promoter Big Apachee is currently in the process of rescheduling the tour for March 2013. Rescheduled dates will be announced and on sale in the coming weeks so stay tuned. Smash Mouth wish to apologise to all their fans for the disappointment but are glad to be able to return in 2013”.
The tour would have marked Smash Mouth's second ever visit to Australia, which was due to kick off next Thursday in Wollongong. Dates for Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and Fremantle have now been scratched.
They released their latest album, Magic, in September.
