In case you missed it: Slipknot have a new member on the keyboard and sampling duties after Craig Jones recently departed the band after 27 years.

The masked figure pictured above has joined them at recent live performances, but aside from that photo the band shared to indicate a new member joining the fold, we don’t know anything else about the mystery member.

That is, until now. Slipknot fans previously discovered the identity of bassist Alessandro “V-Man” Venturella thanks to his distinctive tattoos, and this time, they might have figured out who’s wearing that ominous black mask.

Slipknot percussionist Michael “Tortilla Man” Phaff accidentally spilled the beans on the supposed identity of the new member, sharing a photo in a now-deleted Instagram story.

In a photo shared by Phaff, fans could see the names of each member above their iconic, scary outfits – one for Corey Taylor, one for Mick Thompson, etc. – and one for Zac, who fans believe is Zac Baird.

Baird, with an impressive resume that includes stints on keyboards for Korn and Ghost, has circled the Slipknot rumour mill ever since Jones left.

Still unconfirmed by the legendary US nu-metal outfit, fans on the Slipknot subreddit seem sure that Baird is their new man. You can view the Reddit post below.

Jones departed Slipknot on Wednesday, 7 June. Slipknot stated Jones’ departure in a brief statement on social media, writing in a now-deleted Instagram post, per Metal Hammer:

"To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future."

The shock announcement arrived hours after Shawn 'Clown' Crahan revealed that he’s taking some time away from live gigs as he needs to be with his wife, who is dealing with unspecified health issues.

“Hello to all of our fans, it’s the clown. I would like to take a moment to tell everyone that I’m back home supporting my wife through some health issues, and I’ll be back on the road as soon as I can,” Clown wrote on social media.
