Slipknot Frontman Compares Next Album To 'Sgt Pepper's'

Corey Taylor is VERY ambitious.

More Slipknot Slipknot

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has always been known for his candid and honest opinions and the singer didn't hold back when revealing plans on the band's next album, comparing it to Prince's Purple Rain and The BeatlesSgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

While it is already public knowledge that the US metal band plan to take two years off following their 2014 record, .5: The Gray Chapter and accompanying world tour, Taylor revealed that the nine-piece outfit's next album could also include a feature film.

Speaking to New York radio station Q103, the 41-year-old musician said: "…The idea that we had was to kind of come up with the concept and then provide the soundtrack for it."

"But then I told them the other day…I was, like, 'Let’s take it even further and let’s make our Purple Rain let's make our Pink Floyd The Wall… with a movie — not just the album, but do the movie … like, do everything. And they were pretty into it."

"I'm just, like, 'Man, we've gotta write an art record. We've gotta write our 'Wall'… 'Sgt. Pepper's'… whatever you wanna say. And that's where I'm at."

Taylor revealed he is working with fellow band member Shawn 'Clown' Crahan on the new idea that would involve a potential double album, which the guitarist is also very keen on.

"That would be a grand slam for the Clown. Don't get me wrong: we'd still do our thing. We're still gonna be Slipknot."

Meanwhile, Slipknot are currently performing shows throughout the US as part of their ongoing world tour.

Band bassist Alessandro Venturella was recently rushed to hospital in an ambulance mid-show due to suffering from "severe dehydration".
