'Ska Or Improv?' Is The Tumblr You Didn't Know You Needed

A new Tumblr account challenging readers to tell the difference between ska bands' press photos and those belonging to improvisational acting troupes — fittingly titled Ska Or Improv? — has been started by the minds behind US-based comedic basketball podcast Holding Court. 

With the blog's purpose succinctly described on the homepage — "The following pictures are of either a ska band or an improv troupe. Can YOU tell the difference?" — the minimalist design offers exactly what's promised: namely, a string of colourful press photos of groups that could be just as likely inspired by Reel Big Fish and the Mad Caddies as they are Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Theatresports.

Specific answers are on the blog but if you guessed that all three are (overly excited) ska bands, then congratulations — you might just be cut out for this. It's only a new concern, so there's not an overwhelming amount of content yet, but it's an amusing little time-killer and our money says this has the potential to grow to be quite the addictive little game upon which the Holding Court guys have stumbled.

Plus, let's face it, when it's all said and done, there'll be another interesting statistic waiting to be measured: namely, how many of the bands featured over the blog's life utilised a ska pun in their name.
