More Splendour In The Grass More Splendour In The Grass

North Byron Parklands has made its final bid to become the permanent home of major Aussie music festivals like Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival.

After a five year trial, the site has submitted an application to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment which, if approved, will see it not only host the premier music events, but also a limited number of one-day concerts and community events.

"We feel we have done an outstanding job in managing our environmental impact which has been reflected through a range of improvements covering traffic, noise and community amenity during the trial," Parklands General Manager, Mat Morris, told The Music.

"We now hope to be able to operate on a permanent basis so that we can invest in improvements to the site which will further enhance this world-class cultural venue."

The Parklands is also calling for support, today encouraging the community to put forward their own submissions to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and make their voice heard.

"We urge supporters of North Byron Parklands to make a submission to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in support of the application to become a permanent home for Arts and Culture in NSW," Morris said.

The site was granted a 20-month extension on its five-year trial in September.

Submissions can be made now and will close on Friday 16 February; click here for more details.
