The Icelandic post-rock lords make their triumphant return to Sydney and Melbourne this July

Icelandic post-rock legends Sigur Rós will perform two headline shows as part of their upcoming Australian sojourn for Splendour In The Grass this July.

The shows — which are proudly presented by The Music and are billed as 'An Evening With Sigur Rós' — mark the band's first shows in Australia without a support act, and fans will have the chance to experience a career-spanning set, replete with interval, in the surrounds of the Hordern Pavilion, in Sydney, and Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena.

It's been nearly five years since Sigur Rós last undertook a headline tour of the country, though they were a part of the Splendour line-up last year; nonetheless, even if you caught them at that event, these two shows still bear all the hallmarks of being utterly unmissable events for anyone who considers themselves even a casual fan of the band's expansive, ethereal compositions.

A ticket pre-sale will be held from 9am local time next Tuesday, 11 April, running through till 8am on Wednesday 12 April.

General-release tickets go on sale from 9am on Wednesday 12 April.

If you're looking for an extra-special experience, there are VIP packages available to both shows.

In Sydney, the package includes a general-admission ticket with first access to the floor (half-an-hour before doors), and three super-shmick limited-edition tour screen prints signed by the band.

Melbourne's package also includes the prints and, in lieu of early access, is all about those Premium Reserve seats, aka The Best Seats In The HouseTM.
