Reservoir lads Grindhouse play Night Of The Living Shred this Saturday night. On the eve of the event, we caught up with the band for some quick-fire questions.
How has 2015 been for the band so far?
Yeah, it has been a pretty busy year, we knocked out our maiden European tour and we're off to LA for our second album. We also became much closer physically as a band.
You guys have Night of the Living Shred scheduled for this Saturday. It’s a good local line-up. What can we expect from Grindhouse on the live front?
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
Just the usual: beer, guts and nasty as cat shit punk rock.
So, what exactly constitutes “Desperate garage punk rock”? Key word being “desperate”.
Look, I'll come clean. We were never a hit with the ladies except for Pony Club (for obvious reasons), but when we did fraternize with the oppostite sex we were highly appreciative. We've taken these fond memeories of awakward teenage sexual moments and woven them into our music.
You’re halfway to your Pozible album target. How have you found using this crowd-funding platform?
It’s a great way to pre-sell your album, we put out that we'd do sexual favours for cash but we didn’t get a lot of traction in the market.
Now, you hail from Reservoir. What have been some of the more interesting things you’ve seen and/or experienced living in the northern suburbs?
A guy smashing a stubbie whilst going for a jog, pure punk rock.
What would you like to see improved in the domestic scene to help up and coming bands?
Sound engineers being subsidised by the government to help bands get paid more.
Favourite album of 2015 so far?
Haunted by Humans by Don Fernando
What bands do you think are pushing the local scene forward with their unique style of music?
Sheriff, Sun God Replica, My Left Boot, Dukes of Deliciousness, The Vee Bees, BRUCE, Don Fernando, The Yard Apes, Swhat, Child, Seedy Jesuss, Drifter.
