Birdz, Trials & Fred Leone Claim Screen Music Award As ‘Bluey’ Dominates

APRA AMCOS and The Australian Guild of Screen Composers have revealed the winners of the 2021 Screen Music Awards.  

Leading the results is dual winner Joff Bush, for his music on the global sensation children's TV show, Bluey.

Bush received the award for Best Music for Children's Programming and alongside co-composers David Barber, Helena Czajka, Marly Lüske, Lachlan Nicolson and Steve Peach also took out the award for Best Soundtrack Album for Bluey: The Album.

Also winning his first-ever Screen Music Award is Brian Cachia, who won Feature Film Score of the Year for Bloody Hell, while Caitlin Yeo claimed Best Music for a Documentary for Playing With Sharks.

The Best Original Song Composed For Screen was taken out by Nathan Bird (pka Birdz), Fred Leone and Daniel Rankine (pka Trials) for Bagi-la-m Bargan from Looky Looky Here Comes Cooky.  The track was written for the NITV documentary, which offers a fresh look at the Cook Legend from a First Nations perspective.
