Alan Patmore wins Tropscore Jr
One of the country's top screen composers, Michael Lira has been acknowledged again with his Tropscore win today.
Adding to his nominations for the Screen Music Awards, Lira won the film score competition while 15-year-old Alana Patmore won the Tropscore Jr. prize.
A collaboration between APRA AMCOS and short film prize Tropfest, the two winners will perform their creations at this year's Tropfest.
“I can't believe it!” said Lira today. “I'm so grateful to APRA AMCOS and Tropfest for creating a category that promotes and acknowledges screen composers and throws in some prize money too!

“I'm humbled to be chosen amongst so many wonderful composers that have entered the competition and I'm also lucky that many of the best screen composers were judging rather than competing or were too busy to enter!”
As well as composing music for shows such as Rake, Bogan Pride and Redfern Now as well as films, Lira is a founding member of Monsieur Camembert and the driving force of Darth Vegas and Vicious Hairy Mary.
The Screen Music Awards will take place in Sydney Monday 9 December, a day after Tropfest, which will be held at Sydney's Centennial Park. A limited number of public tickets are available to the awards.
