Scott Weiland, most noted for his role in Stone Temple Pilots, has reportedly passed away while on tour. The musician was 48.

Scott Weiland, most noted for his role in Stone Temple Pilots, has passed away while on tour. The musician was 48.

A statement on the frontman's official Facebook page reads:

"Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected."

As Pitchfork initially reported, Weiland "was reportedly found on a tour bus before his band Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts' performance in Hamel, Minnesota."
