One of the most recent additions to Australia’s festival scene, Gold Coast-based event SandTunes is relocating ahead its debut later this year.

The new festival – boasting the likes of Travis Scott, Logic, Carly Rae Jepsen, JUICE WRLD, CHVRCHES and more – was originally scheduled to take place on Coolangatta Beach on November 30 and December 1, but organisers have now confirmed it will be hosted at Metricon Stadium following “responses from the local community”.

“Despite our vision of staging SandTunes on the beach we’ve come to appreciate the many advantages of hosting it within a world-class multi-purpose Metricon Stadium, which has a storied history of live music and festival events including Foo Fighters, the iconic Big Day Out and the blockbuster stadium show next February 2020 with Queen and Adam Lambert, also promoted by TEG Dainty,” TEG Dainty founder and CEO Paul Dainty said.

TEG chief executive Geoff Jones added: “While Coolangatta presented as the perfect backdrop to host this event, and despite Gold Coast City Council approval, it has become increasingly apparent that local businesses and residents are now not in favour of that location. We have listened - and we are acting.

“We are committed to bringing premium ‘A-list’ artists to this great city and this great state and regardless of venue, we can’t imagine SandTunes being staged anywhere else than the GC.”

Single day tickets are available for $129, while two day tickets are going for $199.
