In what can only be described as an unusual change in musical direction, alternative-country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has announced his next album will be a “metal” album.

In what can only be described as an unusual change in musical direction, alternative-country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has announced his next album will be a “metal” album.

While Adams has enjoyed considerable success with his alt-country sound, it’s not the first time he has deviated in musical style having released both black metal and rap albums strictly via his website in the past.

In 2006, he used monikers including 'DJ Reggie' and 'The Shit' to release 18 albums of nonsense on his website for download.

Nevertheless, Adams states he is serious about his recent project stating on his website that he will “begin pressing ORION – [his] most legit METAL record—on vinyl next week.

Adams also stated, “Not a single B.C. Rich [guitar] was hurt in the making of this record.

Those who still believe this is a joke can listen to 'Electrosnake', the first song to released from 'ORION' here.
